Scope and Contents
This series contains correspondence, memorandums, travel documents, handwritten notes, event programs, newsletters, posters, press releases, clippings, postcards, and maps associated with Emshwiller’s travels to conferences, festivals, and institutions as an artist in residence, lecturer, film jurist, or panel moderator. The series also contains materials related to the screenings of his work, "Sunstone," as part of a traveling exhibition curated by the Whitney Museum, several grant and fellowship applications, and a substantial number of artistic statements, biographical information, and descriptions of film/video works written by Emshwiller. The series also includes materials documenting his work as a board member of the Association of Independent Video and Filmmakers, trustee of the American Film Institute, director of the Filmmaker’s Cooperative, and the president of E-SPEC. In addition, there are a large number of business cards and handwritten notes containing contact information for individuals, businesses, and organizations.
